Yaacov Delaney is the Co-Founder and visionary behind People's Liberty Project, where he champions healing-centered approaches infused with Restorative Justice principles to advance justice reform and community empowerment. Drawing from his lived experience within the criminal legal system, Yaacov leads transformative initiatives that prioritize reentry support, youth empowerment and diversion, collective healing, and public safety through community-driven solutions. His practice includes developing educational programs that inform and empower young people, creating alternatives to criminal legal system involvement through restorative practices that center accountability, repair, and relationship-building. His work bridges grassroots advocacy with policy innovation, creating pathways for individuals and communities to thrive beyond traditional justice paradigms.
DEAR COMMUNITY, ALLIES AND FELLOW CHANGEMAKERS
It is with immense gratitude and excitement that I welcome you to the official launch of the People's Liberty Project website. Today marks a significant milestone in our journey toward creating safe, healthy and thriving communities through restorative justice and healing-centered approaches.
At PLP, we believe that transformation happens not in isolation, but in community. Our monthly Transformative Justice gatherings are living proof of this belief—spaces where healing, growth and empowerment flourish through radical hospitality and comprehensive support.
This past April, I witnessed something beautiful unfold during our Transformative Justice gathering. Our members' faces lit up as they received their PLP Holistic Wellness bags—carefully curated gifts that included essential oils and candles, herbal tea, affirmation cards, monogrammed PLP throw blankets and Eckhart Tolle's teachings on Presence. These weren't just gifts; they were intentional tools for healing, recognizing that true transformation addresses the emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being of every individual.
The inclusion of Eckhart Tolle's wisdom on Presence reflects our commitment to comprehensive approaches that support our members' journeys of recovery, reintegration and empowerment. For individuals who have been impacted by the criminal legal system, the gift of mindfulness and presence becomes a powerful pathway to healing and self-discovery.
NURTURING HOLISTIC HEALING IN COMMUNITY
In May, our gathering took on special significance as we created space to honor, acknowledge and appreciate the mothers and mother figures who have graced our community. This celebration exemplifies our core value of Radical Hospitality—creating spaces where everyone feels valued, respected and seen, regardless of their past, circumstances or identity. We extend support without judgment because we know that healing happens when people feel truly welcomed and honored for who they are.
RADICAL HOSPITALITY IN ACTION
Whether we're providing holistic wellness items or honoring the mothers in our community who have been impacted by the criminal legal system, every action at PLP is an intentional effort to promote healing and wellness for our members' journeys. These gatherings are extensions of our broader mission to foster safe, healthy communities where all people—especially those impacted by harm and incarceration—are empowered to live with dignity, purpose, and possibility.
